SBMMP’s Mission

South Boston Marine MultiPort LLC (SBMMP) has been designated by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) to renovate and revitalize the North Jetty and abutting cargo laydown space in the Massport Marine Terminal (MMT). SBMMP has also been designated by the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) to renovate and revitalize Parcel M adjoining the MMT. Located in South Boston’s Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, these spaces are one of the last remaining locations in Boston Harbor where water-dependent marine industries can develop a terminal to strengthen Boston’s connections to worldwide supply chains and promote Boston’s role in the global maritime economy. SBMMP has begun the process to design, permit, and completely rebuild the North Jetty. We are working with Childs Engineering, Nitsch Engineering, Landing Studio, Epsilon Associates and others to complete this project. We hope to use a revitalized North Jetty to support the offshore wind industry and to provide efficient cargo-handling capacity to import special project, dry-bulk, and break-bulk cargoes that Boston Harbor currently lacks the resources to handle.
